Just yesterday a co-worker said, “I need to stop saying yes to everyone!”.
Does this happen to you? Do you say yes and later wish you said no? Do you feel like people take advantage of you?
It’s time to reflect on Act 1: Know where you are going. When you have a clear set of goals, it’s easier to judge whether you should or should not sign up for something.
- First, ask yourself if doing it will help you reach your goals?
- Second, is it a good use of your time?
- Third, express your thoughts in a way that helps others understand your reasoning.
“I’m sorry, that is not a good use of my time. My priority is my family.” Avoid a yes or no response and begin teaching others what is important to you.
